Bio-sketch
Shefali is a non-profit sector professional, former international civil servant with the UN, human rights activist and writer. She has over 14 years of experience in strategy formulation, programme implementation, evaluation, policy dialogue and knowledge management. She has managed programs for bi-lateral and multi-lateral agencies in some of the most backward regions of the country including insurgency and post disaster affected areas of Kashmir, Gujarat, Orissa and North East India and has worked in Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. She serves on the board of several NGOs and foundations and has a strong volunteer and community base across several states in India. She is an active writer and is passionate about women's empowerment and agriculture.
Earlier she worked on livelihoods and resilience in insurgency and disaster affected areas of India with VHAI and SHARE and was the principal researcher on health issues with USAID and a South Asian think tank.
Shefali contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and is a strong promoter of citizen rights.
She is a recipient of the TATA fellowship for promising women professionals & is a distinction holder from the London School of Economics (UK), has studied at the Henan Agriculture University (China) and the University of Delhi.
